Good thing we weren’t expecting a Lincoln 2…
Three-time Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest performers of his generation, are formally retired from acting.
Variety reports that the Lincoln star, the only performer to ever win three Academy Awards for Best Actor, didn’t devote any reason for his retirement — and will not be inducing ANY further commentaries on the “private decision”!
Day-Lewis’ spokeswoman Leslee Dart corroborated the news in the following statement,( kind of) explaining 😛 TAGEND
“Daniel Day-Lewis will no longer be working as an actor. He is vastly grateful to all of his collaborators and audiences over the many years. This is a private decision and neither he nor his representatives will make any further comment on this subject.”
Sad! But devotees of the 60 -year-old method actor still have one final cinema to look forward to. Day-Lewis is set to star in an untitled drama directed against Paul Thomas Anderson, set in the world of manner. Despite being retired, the actor intends to help promote the movie — which is set to reached theaters on December 25, 2017.
While this announcement sounds unequivocal, it wouldn’t be the first time the actor stepped away from the cameras.
He appeared to give up acting in the late 90 s and early 00 s, and was reportedly working as a cobbler before Martin Scorsese convinced him to star in Gangs of New York.
Never mention never?
