Known most for his iconic role as the tongue-in-cheek Caped Crusader on the infamous 1960 s television series Batman, Adam West died late Friday night in Los Angeles after a short battle with leukemia.
He was 88 years old.
West was forever best known for his titular role on the 1960 s TV series, which brought him much renown but also a struggle with type-casting after the display completed its operated.
The actor then reached a new level of reputation — and was introduced to far younger generations of Tv and movie devotees — with a voiceover role playing Mayor Adam West (!) in the animated TV series Family Guy decades later.
According to family reports, the longtime performer died peacefully surrounded by his wife, infants, and grandchildren, with the family going so far as to make a statement about his death:
“Our dad always insured himself as The Bright Knight and aspired to make a positive impact on his fans’ lives. He was and always will be our hero.”
May he — and his project — never be forgotten, and our condolences to his loved ones, household, and friends.
