John Oliver has to give credit where credit is due.
When discussing Donald Trump‘s announcement to withdraw the U.S. from the Paris Climate Agreement, the Last Week Tonight host had no choice but to praise the President — for being so “flamboyantly deceptive” about it!
Oliver fact-checked Trump’s remarks on Sunday’s show, first going over the moment in his speech where POTUS claimed “the worlds” celebrated the signature of the global initiative because it put American at an “economic disadvantage” — to which he mentioned 😛 TAGEND
“What are you talking about? They were happy because they procured a landmark victory for the future of countries around the world, you fucking egomaniac.”
The HBO host also explained that Trump’s pulling out of the agreement ultimately hurts specific populations he pretends to care about the most: U.S. workers.
Because while the Nations are clinging to the carbon-emissions-producing industries of the past, countries staying in the agreement will reap its benefits, and as Oliver threw it, will be on “the forefront of a whole new industry making countless jobs.”
Like China, which not only cancelled plans to build more than 100 coal-fired power plants, but also has the intention to expend $361 BILLION dollars on renewable energy — which will reportedly create 13 million new jobs — while American coal miners continue to get the black lung. Sad!
